The topic FBA - Fullfilment by Amazon have already been described in detail in several articles. There are also many other blogs in the German-speaking world that repeatedly present the topic and examine the various aspects.
However, one topic that always leads to astonishment, especially among new Amazon sellers, is the use of FBA & FBM for the same products. Simply put, it means that you ship and store your product both via Amazon and from your own shipping logistics.
Are you wondering why you should do this?
In addition to ensuring that your product is offered consistently and that you do not run out of stock due to delays in delivery or changes in stock quantities, you can also offer your product for two different prices on the market. In this way, you could offer your FBM variant at a slightly lower price than the FBA offer, as practiced by many customers.
Advantages if you offer your products via FBA & FBM at the same time:
- No more worries about out-of-stock issues
- No more worries about delayed deliveries or lost goods
- The identical product can be offered for two different prices
How do I create my product that is sent via FBA as an FBM?
First of all, it is important to know that you do not need a second ASIN, EAN or GTIN. Everything runs via the same barcode as with your FBA variant. What you will need, however, is a second SKU. To do this, we recommend adding -FBM to the SKU of the outgoing listing.
If your FBA product should have the SKU "polo_1", then the FBM offer could have the SKU "polo_1_fbm".
To do this, simply go to "Manage stock", click on "Add product" and search for your existing product in the Amazon catalog.
Here you don't have to fill out your offer again, just enter the SKU, price and quantity, select the shipping option "own shipping" and click on save and you have an FBM offer in addition to the FBA offer.
